CERTIFICATE PROGRAMMES IN VISUAL ARTS
The Certificate Programmes in Visual Arts consists of three main streams as Painting, Applied Art and Sculpture.
Certificate in Visual Arts- Painting (CVAP)
Introduction: The certificate programm in Painting aims to impart basic knowledge and skill of drawing, medium and composition with the development of creative and aesthetics sensibilities. The course aims to inculcate creativity, precision and use of tool & material.
Objectives:
- To develop self observation, visualization and self motivation to create art work.
- Introduce learners to the concept of Indian Art Practices and Aesthetics.
- To understand the use of Material and Technique.
General Guidelines: Course Duration- one year Fee: Rs. 15,000/- per year, per student (in three installment).
Medium of instruction: English and Hindi
Target Group: Students with a secondary school certificate are eligible for admission in the programme (no upper age limit).

Certificate in Visual Arts- Applied Art (CVAA)
Introduction: The certificate programme in Applied Art aims to develop basic knowledge of design with creative and aesthetic understanding. This Certificate Prorgamme is an intensive and creative programme which serves as an effective professional platform for learners. They will be trained according to the elements of design and will be provided with the sensibility to understand skill of drawing, medium and composition.
Objectives:
- To develop visualization and Designing sensibility to create an art work.
- To understand and use Material and Technique for graphic design.
- Introduce learners to the concept of Indian Art Practices Aesthetics.
- To impart knowledge of Graphic designing and advertising

Certificate in Visual Arts- Sculpture (CVAS) Introduction: Sculpture is one of the most popular three dimensional forms of fine arts. It allows the artist to have an intimate relationship with the work. The certificate proramme in Sculpture aims to impart understanding and use of Material and Technique to create expressive sculptures with an understanding of using principals of art. Objectives: • To develop self observation, visualization and self motivation to analyze sculptures according to use of art elements and principles. • Introduce them to the concept of Indian Art Practices Aesthetics. • Understanding of the basic forms and the fundamentals of drawing and sculpture. • Knowing the artist’s tools and materials and finding their possibilities and limitations through series of free and elaborate exercise. Introduction: Certificate course in Theatre Arts aims to provide basic introduction to the art of theatre to the learners. This course offers both theoretical and practical inputs to the students.

Introduction: Certificate course in Hindustani Music is to enable the learner to receive the basic knowledge of theory and practical aspects of Hindustani music. This course will also enable the learner to have a holistic approach towards all art forms of India and their common historical background as well as the bifurcation of Indian Music into two distinct systems of music- Hindustani & Karnatak.
Objectives: This programme is aimed to at creating awareness and appreciation of Hindustani music. This will also help the learner t gain knowledge of practical as well theoretical aspect of the art form.

Certificate in Performing Arts- Odissi (CPAOS)
Introduction: Indian Classical dances bring out the quintessential cultural ethos of diverse regions of India. This prorgamme offers training in the basics of Odissi, the classical dance of Orissa and provides a holistic and integrated approach to Indian performing arts through theory courses with 70% -30% weightage for practical and theory. This is an innovative program from IGNOU which combines the strength of both IGNOU and its Programme Study centres which are reputed Odissi dance schools located across the length and breadth of India and abroad. It combines the flexibility of distance and continuing education with conventional learning system and provides for face-to-face interaction through its program study centres, for both Theory and Practicals.
Main objectives of the programme:
- To impart and create a holistic knowledge base of Indian cultural forms of expression like dance, Music, painting and Theatre.
- To improve culture sensitivity and develop cultural know how.
- To impart strong and solid basic practical training in dance that is fundamental for advanced learning.
